Burning

Does anyone know what the rules are in the village regarding bofires. The other night we were sitting out in the garden, quite happily enjoying a pre-dinner glass of Claret, when we were forced indoors by some inconsiderate person who decided to light a bonfire.

Please, if you read this and are a burner, consider your neighbours before you light up. Our pleasant summer evenings are rare occurrencies - so please let us all enjoy them.

Hi. My name is Graham Phillips and I am the new owner of the Bovingdon village pharmacy. I am a pharmacist myself, and we are a small family-owned group. Every single customer and patient counts. That's why we have won a number of national awards (please check out our website at www.manorppharmacygroup.co.uk)

We have spent nearly £100,000 on the premises and will be incresing the range of services to the village. Can I assure you that our sole aim is to IMPROVE services to the community. We absolutely do NOT close early. My staff (the very same staff who worked so diligently for Anthony) read the accusations and were very upset because they are untrue. If you have any concerns at all, or any suggestions, please phone me on 07768-275-802 or email me at graham.phillips@manorpharmacygroup.co.uk Very best wishes to the community

Hi, I think I may be the inconsiderate git who upset your evening with my bonfire, I can tell you that I first checked with Dacorum's web site concerning bonfires and it turns out you can have one almost when you like, there are no set times, but it does go on to say that one should be aware of neighbours which is why i left it until early evening, i wont apologise for upstting you as i have'nt done anything wrong as far as i can see, if the council provided enough refuse collection bins so as to dispose of garden waste i would have used them instead, but as you well know there hardly big enough to put your grass cuttings in let alone anything else.

Hello Nigel

I dont think that I ever referred to you as an inconsiderate git. If that is the label you care to place upon yourself, you are perfectly free to do so.

As the original post was dated early in august and your reply hit this blog in November I guess you have a very good memory, or maybe you keep a diary of your bonfire activities !

Whilst i do agree that the council do not provide large enough bins for garden waste, I am just commenting that because of the actions of a few people, the rest of us were unable to enjoy the simple pleasure of sitting in our gardens to enjoy the early evening. If you are unable to understand that simple concept well .........

I am not after a personal apology, far be it from me to call for, or expect, one. I would just hope that in future you may show some consideration to your neighbours. Not a lot to ask is it !
